Our Parish History

September 11, 1932A mission is established in Pflugerville and placed under the protection
of St. Elizabeth of Hungary. The first church building at Wilbarger & Railroad Street near downtown is consecrated by Bishop Christopher Byrne of the Diocese of Galveston. The Oblate Fathers of Mary Immaculate, from Our Lady of Guadalupe parish in Austin and Our Lady of Guadalupe in Taylor, provided Mass and Sacraments. -
October 21, 1979Dedication of the new church building on North Pflugerville Loop with 8 acres of land. This building served as the second location of St. Elizabeth. Currently The Chapel. -

September 11, 1982
The fiftieth anniversary of the Mission is celebrated.
June 11, 1984
St. Elizabeth is established as an independent parish under Bishop Vincent M. Harris. Father Pete McCabe is appointed as the first resident pastor.
July 5, 1984
Parish rectory is established on 8th Street in Pflugerville.

August 18, 1985Dedication of Parish Activity Center ("The Hall"). This building served as the third location of St. Elizabeth in Pflugerville. -

July 17, 1987
Father Tom Frank is assigned as second resident pastor.

November 17, 1989On this day, two statues of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary were unveiled, blessed, and installed. One is made of hand-carved wood, painted on commission by an artist in Rome. The other is a plaster statue donated by St Elizabeth in Houston. -
Fall 1991A new sign made of stone marks the parish land. -

April 1992
Three acres of land are purchased between the church and the middle school.
November 15, 1992
Celebration of the 60th anniversary of Saint Elizabeth.
May 19, 1996
Groundbreaking for new sanctuary and religious education building.
Summer 1997
Associate pastor Father Kevin Rai is assigned.

Father Albert Ruiz becomes the new Pastor of St. Elizabeth.

Deacon Barry Ryan is ordained Deacon and assigned to St Elizabeth.

Father Pedro Garcia-Ramirez is named Pastor.
